Jack Dorsey – Twitter
The original found of Twitter Jack Dorsey is now just the Chairman of the company. He has taken himself out of the day-to-day tasks that he used to be apart of. In late 2009 he began venturing into a new market and beginning the works of a new company. He states, “a new company with "similar ideas" as Twitter, but in a "completely different industry." (RFT) He has paired with his old boss Jim McKelvey of Mira Digital Publishing on this company. He gave no names of the new company due to the fact that they are in the very early workings. From October 27, 2010 Business Insider talks about the new company – Square. Business Insider shares a demo video of Dorsey “the Square, a tiny gadget that lets you take credit card payments on your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or Android device. (BI) It uses Twitter and other social network sites to find your credibility for the payments. This is definitely a device in my option that will take some getting used to but has a big future.

I think it will be interesting to see what ends up happening with Square. I'm sure a lot of ideas seem ridiculous and impossible until suddenly they are being used by people everywhere.
ReplyDeleteYeah, a friend of mine was telling me about this thing. Seems like a security/privacy disaster. I would imagine thieves will find a way to steal a lot of info if this comes to fruition. Neat idea, though.
