The future

The internet has always been defined by a small number of people with big ideas changing the way people communicate. It is more likely that the future of the internet will be decided by someone in their basement than the efforts of governments or large corporations. Much of the news today concerns the economic and conflict concerns that the whole world is facing. It is hard to believe that enough money or good well be raised to make such a perfect internet like the video suggests.

The idea that not just people being connected to the internet, but the things that people own will also be connected is a bit disconcerting. It is funny to think that one day our refrigerator our shirt might someday catch a computer virus. There is some concern that our society is becoming to dependent on the internet, this can not put these worries to ease.

One are that I think that the internet can help improve is in the area of Education. The internet already is a great aid to college students looking for research, or the working adult who wants to go back to school. For younger students it could mean the chance to have curriculum molded around them and learn at their own pace. It would give parents a more hands on approach to their child's education and they could monitor what they were learning. If done right it could also save this country a lot of money that is spent on education every year. Of course you could never replace the interaction with good teacher with a computer screen.

  1. Your video post was interesting. I'm also taking another technology class where we have been discussing how the Europen countries are ahead of us in technology. I'll have to show this video in my next class.
